The "abundant life".
It seems and sounds and feels, sometimes, quite elusive, doesn't it?
In different seasons we chase it. For years we think we know what it is, and sometimes in a lifetime we never find it.
Oftentimes because we are casting out our own nets.
We are making our own catch.
We reel it in our own.
And then that fish, that we believe is the key to the "abundant life"? We put it in a jar. A glass jar. We hold on tight, knowing deep down that it could shatter and break if we stumble, if we are pushed down, if it falls out of our hands...so we keep it close, contained, eyes focused on it so not even the water sloshes out as we carry it...and we miss the abundant life offered to each of us.
You may be familiar with the "Fishers of Men" passage in Luke 5. I have read it many times. But a few months ago, I read this passage and an abundance (no pun intended) of lessons, and nuggets leapt off the pages and into my heart. Because while this passage is about "fishers of men", it is about so much more. It points us to the abundant life.
Will you join me and put down your glass jar, lay down your nets for a time, and focus your eyes with me on Jesus? Will you say "yes" to the abundant life?
